I think I get overly excited about book to film / tv adaptations, but when they’re great, they’re great! And no, I am still not over Cord Jefferson (American Fiction) forgetting to thank Percival Everett (Erasure) when he won his Academy Award for best adapted screenplay.
There are a lot of forthcoming adaptations with actual dates attached as well as a lot of 2024 releases that have no release dates yet, so I will stick to ones that appear to be cemented.
I’ve starred the books I’ve read.
April:
April 2 Someone Like You based on the novel by Karen Kingsbury
*April 4: Ripley based on The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith (Netflix)
Yes, the movie was fantastic and yes, I am here for the new adaptation. This will be a limited TV series on Netflix starring Andrew Scott and Dakota Fanning.
**Okay, update, I’ve started watching this and I think it’s absolutely visually stunning. I’m reading that people are finding it “slow” but I really think that’s a result of the fact that we’ve lost patience as a society to sit though things that aren’t moving fast fast fast! Also, I think an alternate title for this series could be “The Stairs of Italy” I mean, if you turned “count the stairs in this series” into a drinking game, everyone would be drunk as a skunk (what does that even mean?) I am loving this series.
*April 14: The Sympathizer based on Viet Thanh Nguyen’s novel by the same name. (HBO Max)
April 17: Under The Bridge by Rebecca Godfrey
May 2: The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris
May 16: Bridgerton Season 3 based on Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn (Netflix)
June 7 The Watchers by A.M. Shrine (Prime Video)
*June 14 Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams (Hulu)
These are the tv shows / movie adaptations I’m most excited about. What have I left out that you are looking forward to?

Jennifer- Thanks for sharing these. I haven't read most of these books so this summary is a breath of fresh air. More importantly, it sort of reminded me of how long it's been since I properly sat down for a read and finish a book (which sadly is 'too long'). Hope you're well, Jennifer-
I'll be a busy gal with these gems! Can't wait for Ripley!🎉
