Get the Picture opened my eyes to a part of the art world. It has some hilarious segments, like how a galleryist thought a piece of stacked appliances was brilliant because it reflected the artist’s heritage, and when Bosker participated in performance art. Pretension abounds. Set yourself free and engage art on your own terms.
Yes! Really funny! And I think there's also this nice juxtaposition between the stuffy airs that some gallerists / art shows have vis a vis Bosker seeing some of this ridiculousness with fresh eyes and dismantling it.
So happy you found me on the WWW!
Thanks for the lovely comments and thoughts about my teaching 🩷
Immediately went to reserve Old In Art School on Libby but they don’t have the audiobook 😩
Boo! Is there a different library system you can try? You can also request the audiobook through the Libby app.
I read “old in art school “ and loved it ! Will check out the second recommendation !
I heard that the second half of Get The Picture is pretty inspiring for artists. Did you think so?
Definitely. It's very encouraging of artists to just be themselves.
