I’m 48. After almost five decades of being alive, I definitely find myself taking stock of what I’ve accomplished. I’ve been thinking about milestone moments: becoming a mom, graduate degrees, publishing my first novel as well as first experiences I had when I was much younger because my kids are now passing through their own firsts: getting a driver’s license, voting for the first time, heading off to college. It feels like as I age the opportunity for firsts are few and far between (no, getting my first colonoscopy is not an exciting “first”.)
